Always keen to share other people’s views and opinions on the fine art of roasting coffee, I checked whether there was a roastery close by on the island. I discovered that, in the old town a few streets back from the main strip, is Beanhaus Coffee Roasters, established in 2014 by Charalampos Papaonisiforou.

From the moment you step inside Beanhaus, you know this isn’t an ordinary café. The rich aroma of freshly roasted coffee fills the air, and I instantly slowed down. It’s a place where coffee is treated with respect, and I felt at home here.

Beanhaus operates as an artisan micro-roastery, meaning coffee is roasted in small batches – similar to how we do it – so you experience fresh coffee every time.

We had a great chat about roasting styles, the work that goes into sourcing the beans you need, and some of the pitfalls of the industry.
